Jerry K. Siers
Corporate Sales Manager
After graduating from Southern Illinois University, Jerry went to work for Maritz Travel, the largest incentive travel company in the world. Based in St. Louis, Missouri, he stayed with Maritz for seven years before leaving to enter the hospitality business on the supplier side.
In 1974 he started as a sales manager for the Tan Tara Resort in Missouri. At that time the resort was owned and operated by Marriott Hotels and Resorts. After a four-year stint at Tan Tara, Mr. Siers was transferred to a 300-room Marriott Hotel in Houston and promoted to Director of Sales. He was later tasked to open the new Marriott Galvez Hotel in Galveston as Director of Sales. After two years in Galveston, he was transferred to San Antonio as Director of Sales of the Marriott River Walk. Over the next 11 years, Jerry became an opening “specialist” working to open 27 new Marriott hotels.
Growing weary of the road, Jerry returned to San Antonio in 1991 even though there was not a Marriot home available at the time. He took a position as Director of Sales at the 300-room Holiday Inn Northwest. In 1997 the hotel was sold to the Shaner Hotel Group. There he met his new supervisor with whom his path would continue to cross. The supervisor’s name was Paul Thomas. When the Holiday Inn was later closed (to be converted to a Marriott) Jerry once again became a roving trouble shooter, traveling to under performing hotels to train sales people, make calls, and implement policies and procedures.
When Paul Thomas returned to Lodging Host Hotel Corp, Jerry later followed as a Regional Sales Manager based in San Antonio. This was his first exposure to focused service brands. In this new position he gained exposure to Holiday Inn Express, Comfort Suites, Candlewood Suites, and an independent hotel in Port Aransas, Texas.
Currently, Mr. Siers leads the sales efforts for Live Oak Hospitality Management. Jerry is married with four grown children and six grandchildren and lives in San Antonio.
